We are honored to be a part of this special presentation with our co-presenters at Korean Cultural Center New York  in hosting a one night only reading of Ma-Yi Lab Member, Jason Kim’s most recent work, CLARITY with  post-play discussion offering attendees the opportunity to speak with Jason  about the reading, the theater business, and his recent play, KPOP, which was  produced in association with Ma-Yi Theater, ARS Nova and Woodshed Collective late last year. Light refreshments will be provided.

In this special presentation with Ma-Yi Theatre Company, Korean Cultural Center New York hosts an evening with renowned playwright Jason Kim, featuring a reading his most recent work, CLARITY with a post-play discussion offering attendees the opportunity to speak with Jason and the director.

The reading of CLARITY will take place at the performance space at Korean Cultural Center at 460 Park Avenue on the 6th Floor at 7:00 PM.

ABOUT THE PLAYWRIGHT

Jason Kim is a Korean-born dramatist based in New York City. His immersive musical KPOP (Ma-Yi Theater, Ars Nova and Woodshed Collective) recently had a critically acclaimed sold-out run at ART/New York Theater. His play The Model American opened the Nikos Stage at the 2017 Williamstown Theatre Festival. His work has been presented at Ma-Yi Theater, Keen Company, Naked Angels, The Flea, Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, Washington National Opera, Fort Worth Opera, Manhattan School of Music, and others. In television, he has written for HBO’s Girls and Fox’s Gracepoint and has adapted The Middlesteins for Showtime. Jason is a Ma-Yi Theater Company Lab Member. More at  waytooserious.com

ABOUT THE DIRECTOR

Danny Sharron is a NYC-based director with a focus on developing new plays. He is committed to creating work about the LGBTQIA experience and providing a platform from which the voices of that community can be heard. Danny most recently directed the world premiere of Jason Kim’s THE MODEL AMERICAN at the Williamstown Theatre Festival, and an environmental production of Taylor Mac’s OKAY with UglyRhino at Bushwick’s Central Arts. He has developed work with The Public Theater, New York Theatre Workshop, Ars Nova, LAByrinth Theater Company, Ma-Yi, and The Lark. Danny is an alumnus of the Ars Nova Director’s Troupe, and is a recipient of New York Theatre Workshop’s 2050 Fellowship, Williamstown’s Bill Foeller Fellowship, and the Drama League’s New York Fellowship. Jiho Kang is a newly Brooklyn-based actor and singer/songwriter. He recently finished the successful run of KPOP (Ma-Yi Theater, Ars Nova, Woodshed Collective) as the role of Lex. His other experiences include writing and performing music with indie producers like Ci Majr and Safira K and singing on Superstar K 2016, a singing competition on South Korea’s MNET. Lindsay Rico

Lindsay Rico is a Brooklyn based actor. She spent the summer at Santa Cruz Shakespeare and California Shakespeare Theatre in the role of Isabella in a co-production of Measure for Measure, directed by Tyne Rafaeli. She is currently developing work for the Soho Rep Lab and can be seen this Spring in the premier of Romana Soutus’ Martyrs at La MaMa, directed by Pirronne Yousefzadeh. She’d like to thank her parents for their immense support, and Jason Kim and Danny Sharron for a loyal, spirited, and flawed character in Jenni.
