Hosts:  Ms. Geena Rocero and Mr. Paolo Montalban.

On April 24th, 2017, Ma-Yi Theater Company celebrated the work of our honorees, Elizabeth Roxas-Dobrish, a legendary prima ballerina of Ballet Philippines and Alvin Ailey Dance Company, and Frank and Lolita Savage, a remarkable couple that combine their exquisite artistry and cultural advocacies to inspire and help new generations achieve their goals. We marked their many achievements and toast the accomplishments of the Ma-Yi Writers Lab, the nation’s largest collective of professional Asian American playwrights. This event is hosted by trans super-model Geena Rocero of Gender Proud and  Paolo Montalban,  best known for the Disney television film, Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella as Prince Christopher.

We  gathered at Tribeca 360, a spacious and exciting venue overlooking New York City, The Hudson River and New Jersey. There were live music performances by Broadway Barkada and Kea Chan, Comedian Joel Kim Booster, magician Mark Mitton and a LIVE auction featuring items like tickets to Hamilton and other hard to see shows.

We continued the 28 year tradition of bringing quality Asian American works to the world. If you were unable to attend, but believe in supporting forward thinking Asian American playwrights and their work, please consider making a donation HERE. Your support, now more than ever, ensures our voices and productions continue to thrive. Thank You!
